Parent Code of Conduct
1. General Conduct Expectations
Parents and guardians agree to:
• Treat all athletes, coaches, referees, volunteers, and spectators with respect.
• Support coaches and allow them to coach without interference.
• Demonstrate good sportsmanship at all times.
• Address concerns through proper communication channels (not during games or practices).
• Promote a positive environment focused on youth development—not winning at all costs.
2. Behavior at Games & Practices
During games, practices, tournaments, or any ELYA event, parents must:

• Refrain from coaching from the sidelines.
• Respect officials and their decisions.
• Avoid confrontations with coaches, players, referees, or other parents.
• Wait 24 hours before addressing concerns related to playing time or game decisions.
Parents may not approach coaches during or immediately after games, referees at any time, or opposing players or parents.
3. Prohibited Conduct
The following behaviors will not be tolerated at any ELYA event or function:

• Profanity or cursing directed at anyone.
• Aggressive, hostile, or intimidating behavior.
• Yelling at players, coaches, or officials.
• Threats of any kind (verbal, written, or implied).
• Physical confrontation or threatening body language.
• Harassment in person, by phone, text, email, or social media.
• Disrupting practices, games, or events.
ELYA has zero tolerance for threats or aggressive behavior.
4. Social Media Conduct
Parents agree to:

• Refrain from posting negative, defamatory, or inflammatory comments about players, coaches, officials, or the organization.
• Avoid sharing confidential team information.
• Model positive digital citizenship.
5. Consequences for Violations
Failure to follow this Code of Conduct may result in:

• Verbal warning
• Written warning
• Removal from a game or practice
• Temporary suspension from attending events
• Permanent ban from ELYA events
• Removal of athlete from the program (if behavior continues or is severe)
Serious incidents involving threats or physical aggression may result in immediate removal, involvement of law enforcement, and permanent dismissal from the organization.
6. Our Standard at ELYA
We are building more than athletes—we are building leaders. Our athletes are watching how adults behave. Your example teaches them how to handle adversity, competition, and conflict. We ask every parent to partner with us in maintaining a safe, positive, and encouraging environment where every child can grow with confidence.

I understand and agree to abide by the ELYA Parent Code of Conduct. I acknowledge that failure to comply may result in disciplinary action.
