Athlete Code of Conduct

At East Liverpool Youth Academy (ELYA), we are committed to developing not only strong athletes, but strong leaders. All athletes are expected to represent ELYA with integrity, respect, and sportsmanship at practices, games, tournaments, and in the community.

1. Respect

Athletes must:
• Show respect to coaches, teammates, officials, opponents, and volunteers.
• Listen when coaches or staff are speaking.
• Use appropriate language at all times.
• Treat facilities and equipment with care.


2. Behavior at Practices & Games

Athletes are expected to:
• Arrive on time and ready to participate.
• Follow instructions from coaches.
• Encourage teammates and demonstrate positive sportsmanship.
• Accept referee decisions without arguing.
• Give full effort during practices and competitions.


3. Prohibited Conduct

The following behaviors will not be tolerated:
• Fighting or physical aggression.
• Bullying, teasing, or disrespecting teammates or opponents.
• Cursing or inappropriate language.
• Threats of any kind.
• Throwing equipment in anger.
• Disrupting practices, games, or team meetings.


4. Social Media & Community Conduct

Athletes represent ELYA both on and off the court/field.
• No negative or harmful posts about teammates, coaches, or the organization.
• No bullying or inappropriate online behavior.
• Represent ELYA with pride in school and in the community.


5. Consequences for Violations

Failure to follow this Code of Conduct may result in:
• Verbal warning
• Sitting out of practice or game time
• Suspension from games or practices
• Removal from the program for serious or repeated violations

At ELYA, we hold our athletes to a high standard because we believe in their potential. We expect our athletes to act with discipline, leadership, and character at all times.
